Neonatal Database

About Us

This Database was originally coded in Visual Basic running with Sql in back end and MS access as front end. It used MS access 2003. This development was done by Dr. Ian Callander his team . This was successfully deployed in various nicus in Australia and outside. It was and is freely downloadable software to be used without any frills or hidden payments or limitations. Database support and promotion In India was looked after by Dr. Hemant Jain.

With wider application it was realized that local windows related factors brought new issues which needed to be resolved case by case. Since some places software was running in Windows XP and at other in Windows 8. Providing support for such project was becoming increasingly difficult.

In 2012 December a workshop was held in Hyderabad for this database and it was realized that it is impossible to take forward the project without making is browser based on website so that uniformity is maintained and support issues can be handled easily. The project to convert Original Visual Basic Code to Asp.net and to make software web based was undertaken by Dr. Hemant Jain Supported by Journal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research. This was done with the understanding that this project will always remain on Not for Profit model.

Project mission
To provide a comprehensive neonatal database which is easily deployable at bed side and helps neonatologist to maintain valuable data and make improvements using objective assessment of clinical quality parameters.

For Ongoing development and maintenance of project the software will be available under the following options.
Basic (Free) version

  • User hospital or Doctor makes request us to use the web database. We send them a form to fill and register. In next 10 working days we create a login and password.
  • User has access to use all the software (no restrictions) up to the level is developed for 5 years. ( Currently the Original Msaccess version is more advanced and it will take some time for web version to catch up with it. As and when more modules come they will be added automatically without any charge.)
  • Database will be backed up on weekly basis. User data will NOT be shared with any external agency.
  • All user data will be password protected. However as a single db will be used by different users, hence back ups will be kept with us not shared with user. However these will be restored automatically if need be.
  • Support will be provided via email for those issues which we think true bugs in the system. More support or customization if required can be purchased by user hospital at INR 200 or international USD 10 per hours with blocks of 4 hours at least.
  • Customization to local needs will not be done unless it is felt that the suggestion is valid for many users.
  • Website is hosted on third party servers. Hence we will not be responsible for any unforeseen event that affects the server performance. However we will try to level best to ensure the best user experience and will shift servers if we find there is a perpetual issue.
  • Charges – Free

  • Back Up: Database will be backed up on every 48 hours. User data will NOT be shared with any external agency.
  • Support will be provided via email or phone with prior appointment we will also use team viewer to provide support if needed. Support efforts will be provided for upto 4 hours per a week will come free for first month. More support or customization if required can be purchased by user hospital at INR 200 or international USD 10 per hour with blocks of 4 hours at least.
  • Customization to local needs will not be done unless it is felt that the suggestion is valid for many users.

  • Subdomain will be created. And on the login page LOGO and other details of the hospital will be added. ( Our two Publications JCDR and IJNMR hyperlinked images will remain on the home page )
  • The database for this user will be a separate database not our shared database. Hence back ups for local storage will be made available on demand.
  • Charges (To be paid in advance) –
    • One time
      • INR 10,000 plus service tax for Initial Customization.
      • USD 200 for Outside India users.
    • Annually
      • INR 15,000 plus service tax annually for Indian Users.
      • USD 300 annually for Outside India users.
